Politics - Part 1

It's a trend of today to sound cool by saying "Hey, I'm not interested in politics, it's full of corruption and cheating". To be frank, this is the view of the most naive and least bright minds. Politics is an aspect that rules the day to day lives of everyone. It can be in the form of the traditional politics or the localized versions like Office/Family politics where people form groups, change their stands and decisions based upon their self interests, primarily. Of course, there are some decisions which have no logical rationale behind it.

Let's first accept that we all play politics in our lives, before blaming the politicians and their deeds. This is in no way a justification for what politicians do. It's a ruthless and cold blooded game where split second decisions and heartless actions have to be taken. Supporting your friend in a competition irrespective of his capabilities is a form of politics. Taking the help of your community to win reality shows' SMS voting is another. Helping your friend by giving a proxy attendance is no less than politics.

So, it boils down to a simple fact that everyone plays politics and it's one of the most under rated topics of interest among naive minds. X supports ABC for the elections as he is friendly and may help X to continue his business or illegal encroachment. Y struggles for winning since he has no awareness of micro issues like this. He campaigns on a developmental agenda or doling out something to some community which may already be loyal voters of ABC.

Now, let's get to the point of why I am writing this. A bunch of people, who think that they are very clever, decide to play politics by showing themselves as apolitical. They don't support any party or ideology vocally but work against the ones which threaten them or their ideology. They appear in different roles for different issues from anything as an environmental activist to a random observer. Most media sell-outs follow this path of pimping for various parties.

Some oppose a party, some support it. But the ones who target only one of these is the one playing politics here by indirectly involving in opinion shaping and perception building. Social media is a cruel place - where you can see a conman assume the role of a great intellectual and continue cheating people till the day he is caught and hounded out. Such conmen may later change their views and act in some other dirty manner to achieve their agendas.

In politics, never worry about the ones who oppose you. They are the ones whom you can be sure about and tackle. Beware of the one who comes to support you. This can be a double edged sword. Such people come with a price. They either become an albatross around your neck or turn out to be the greatest asset.
